Latin American Studies is a multidisciplinary program which draws upon dedicated faculty in several departments to prepare students in the historical, political, social, and cultural development of Latin America and the Caribbean. The approach provides students with broad-based knowledge of the region from pre-Columbian to modern times. Students who major in Latin American Studies are strongly encouraged to gain first-hand experience in the region through a Willamette University study-abroad program. The Latin American Studies major provides students with the knowledge and skills appropriate to work effectively in government, business, and the not-for-profit sector.
