| Michael Hettwer was a full time band
director in the Dallas School District from 1992-2002. He has
been a full time choral director for the Dallas School District
since 2002. In addition to his full time job he teaches privately
in Salem and is the horn instructor at Willamette University,
George Fox University and Linfield College.
Michael also performs with a number of professional groups
in the Northwest. He currently plays associate principal horn
with the Portland Opera, 3`d horn with the Oregon Ballet Theatre,
3`d horn with the Eugene Symphony, and principal horn with
the Linfield Chamber Orchestra. Michael is also an active
chamber musician. He has performed with the Columbia Brass,
Pioneer Brass, and is currently an active member of the Festive
Brass, the Oregon Brass Ensemble and the Bridgeport Horn Trio.
Other active engagements include performances with the Peter
Britt Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Oregon Symphony and
the Eugene Opera. He has performed with the Oregon Repertoire
Singers, Joffrey Ballet, Yakima Symphony, Portland Festival
Symphony, Oregon Mozart Players, Luciano Pavarotti, Dianne
Reeves, The Three Irish Tenors, Portland Best of Broadway,
The Temptations, Mannheim Steamroller, The Moody Blues and
Kurt Bestor.
Michael has received his B.M. in French Horn Performance and
his M.A.T. from Willamette University. Michael lives in Salem
with his wife Kami, a general music and band teacher at Salem
Academy, and their three children, Matthew, Joshua and Jenessa.
Mike and Kami are actively involved in child hood cancer awareness
since their son's diagnosis of Leukemia in 1997.
