Randy Kem is Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and runs the
Saxophone Studio at Willamette University. He is a Woodwind
Clinician for the Jupiter Band Instrument Corp. He is also
active with the Jazz Combos and assists Dr. Wallace Long with
the Willamette Singers.
Randy has taught Saxophone, Clarinet and Jazz Improvisation
for 31 years. His students have won numerous District and
State championships and have gone on to receive advanced degrees
in music all over the United States.
Randy and Hijirah Kem, thanks to their children growing up
and moving out, have begun the process of rehearsing and organizing
music they have composed over their family hiatus and will
begin public performances in 2008. Projects include live performances
with the Willamette Valley Saxophone Quartet, a mixed media
performance project with original music, and an improvisation
method for Jazz Bands.
Randy's recent engagements include performances at 2007 Northwest
MENC, Oregon Music Educators, 2005 National Music Educators
Conference in Salt Lake City, and guest soloist with the South
Salem and Judson Jazz Bands. He performed clinics in California
including the Downbeat award winning Folsom, California Jazz
Program.
