Jacky McCormick, a native of England, moved to the United States in 1982. She began her Contact Improvisation studies in 1985 with Karen Nelson and Alito Alessi. Jacky has a Bachelor of Education in Human Movement Studies from Bedford Teacher’s Training College in England as well as a Master of Arts degree in Dance from Mills College in Oakland, California. She taught dance at Western Oregon University for 11 years, introducing Contact Improvisation into the college curriculum there. Jacky toured Europe and the U.S. in 1993-94 studying, performing, teaching and writing about Contact. She started her own dance company DanceAbout in 1995. Currently Jacky performs and teaches Contact Improvisation in Eugene, Oregon and on the West Coast.
